Great ABC viewing last night
So last night I did something really quite rare, I sat in front of the TV for 2 hours and was completely enthralled. First up was Australian Story with a feature on the Aussie couple who went to Tanzania to build a children's complex and the guy was shot and killed by robbers who broke into their hut. A mark of a good program, I think, is if you are moved to tears. Check.
Next up, 4 Corners profiling a work in Ethiopia about a Fistual Hospital and the Australian surgeon who started this with her hubby, coincidentally I read this book just a couple of months ago. Quite brilliant to see the place I had read about. Tears? Check.
And last, Nigella Lawson being interviewed by Andrew Denton. I really admire and find Nigella intriguing for a number of reasons, her honesty, intellect, and the fact who she is flies against the norms really of what women should say and be and how she has turned who she is and what she loves into raging success. No tears here but I did feel deeply for her; she seems to have some very raw sadness deep down from lots of tough stuff in her life.
I wish TV was like this all the time!

By Any Means
My weekend
It's been a nice weekend really, and enjoying the relaxation of this afternoon made it great. I've had a day at home today, which I can't remember the last time this happened, and only left the house for exercise jaunts. I took Noah around a new section of bike track for a solid walk this morning, past the bay to birdwood that was on today i was surprised to find. I headed into pottering around home afterwards, washing and reading 'back in shape after baby' in front of 'the long way round' dvd. I went to Bikram again also, first time in a while, and felt vomitous the whole way through but really good after. I'll keep it up at least once a week and build on it. I think the teacher was feeling annoyed with me; I felt she thought I was ruining the zen with taking time out from postures to not chuck up. Next time I'll have to let on that I'm newer to this than perhaps she thinks (if she couldn't tell by my buxom frame). I've been walking every day this week, sometimes twice and it's been really busy week so that might have contributed to the nausea.
Saturday was nice too, walked into Regatta's along the Torrens with the pooch and had a coffee and walked back to Bonython Park. Gross windy weather in the afternoon but saw the A380 at close range as it flew over mum and dad's house! Man, it's so quiet compared to the jets!
I kind of want to have tomorrow off as well!

Less Law More Order
Listening to my favourite radio station, 891, as I do I heard this Canadian criminologist talking about the book he's written. He's in Adelaide as a keynote for a conference around victims of crime. Looks interesting...
