Great ABC viewing last night

So last night I did something really quite rare, I sat in front of the TV for 2 hours and was completely enthralled. First up was Australian Story with a feature on the Aussie couple who went to Tanzania to build a children's complex and the guy was shot and killed by robbers who broke into their hut. A mark of a good program, I think, is if you are moved to tears. Check.
Next up, 4 Corners profiling a work in Ethiopia about a Fistual Hospital and the Australian surgeon who started this with her hubby, coincidentally I read this book just a couple of months ago. Quite brilliant to see the place I had read about. Tears? Check.
And last, Nigella Lawson being interviewed by Andrew Denton. I really admire and find Nigella intriguing for a number of reasons, her honesty, intellect, and the fact who she is flies against the norms really of what women should say and be and how she has turned who she is and what she loves into raging success. No tears here but I did feel deeply for her; she seems to have some very raw sadness deep down from lots of tough stuff in her life.

I wish TV was like this all the time!
